Little Light, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting families affected by congenital heart defects (CHD). Little Light was founded in February 2014, seven months after our heart baby Karalyn was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, an intact atrial septum and Turner Syndrome, and then shortly after went to be with the Lord. We started Little Light, not only to keep our daughter's memory alive and to give us an outlet for our grief, but also as an offering of gratitude to the Lord for giving us the blessing to be the parents of this sweet little girl. It is what I call "beauty from the ashes." We have chosen to take our grief and heartache and allow the Lord to use it to impact the heart community, to comfort others the way the Lord and others have comforted us through our journey.
Little Light is run through the generosity of our supporters. We hold various fundraisers throughout the year to provide memory boxes and care bags to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, in which we do our big drop off at the hospital on Karalyn's birthday/heavenday each year, July 21. As our organization grows, we look forward to continuing to impact the heart community through memory boxes and care bags but also through funding CHD research projects, providing financial help to heart families, supporting other 501(c)(3) CHD organizations and continuing to raisie the public awareness of CHD through social media.
